If your business qualifies for sales tax exemption, you can submit a resale or tax exemption certificate to us and we will flag your account so you are not charged sales tax on future eligible orders.
Where We Collect Sales Tax
Today, QuickShipLights only collects sales tax on orders shipping to Florida and California. If your delivery address is in any other state, sales tax will not be charged at checkout and you do not need to submit an exemption certificate for us to remove it. If you have a question about sales tax in a specific state, please see our sales tax article or reach out to our support team.
Who Can Request Tax Exempt Status
You may be eligible for tax exempt status if your business is:
- A licensed reseller
- A government agency or entity
- A qualified nonprofit organization
- Another entity that meets the state's tax exemption requirements
If you are not sure whether your business qualifies, check with your state's tax authority.
What to Submit
We accept the following documents:
- A state resale certificate or resale permit
- A state-issued tax exemption certificate
- Other state-specific exemption forms (government agency ID, nonprofit exemption letter, etc.)
Your certificate must clearly show your business name, tax ID or permit number, and the state(s) where the exemption applies.
Recommended: Create an Account First
We recommend that you create an account on QuickShipLights.com before submitting your exemption request. This way you have already set up your password and account details, and we can simply update your existing account rather than creating one from scratch on your behalf.
See our article on how to create an account for step-by-step instructions.
How to Submit Your Certificate
Once your account is set up, send us your certificate using any of the following:
Please include:
- Your certificate (PDF or image)
- The email address associated with your store account
- If you are emailing from a different address than the one on your account, please tell us which account to update
We will flag your account as tax exempt and confirm by email, typically within 1 to 2 business days.
Placed an Order Before You Were Set Up?
If you placed an order before your exemption was activated and you would like a refund of the sales tax for that order, contact us at help@quickshiplights.com with the order number and we will review it.
Multiple States and Renewals
Submit a separate certificate for each state in which you need an exemption. If a certificate expires on a specific date, we will reach out as the expiration approaches so you can send a renewed copy.
